The Stratford VNA is proud to announce that Sharon Vitale, RN, WCC has become Wound Care Certified by the National Alliance of Wound Care (NAWC).  Sharon is our Wound Care Specialist and brings a wealth of knowledge and medical expertise to our advanced wound care program.  Our Wound Care Program's goals focus on specialized treatment of problematic or non-healing wounds while continuing to promote education on prevention of skin impairment.  By communicating closely with other medical experts on the patient's care team, timely treatment changes or evaluations are made promoting the advancement of wound healing.  Our advanced wound care protocols allow us to comfortably and cost effectively treat patients at home.  Incorporating our digital camera technology with the most advanced wound care treatments, including vacuum assisted closure devices (wound vac), allows early intervention when complications occur in wound healing.

Sharon will be doing wound orientations, staff competencies, patient consults with the doctors, helping to order supplies, printing wound photos, tracking wound patients, and meeting with product vendors and bed companies etc.  Sharon has worked with the Stratford VNA in various roles since 1996, including primary care nurse, Director of Quality Improvement, and Hospital Liaison.  Sharon is excited to start this new role, and is knowledgeable of our wound protocols and policies, experienced in wound care, and is wound VAC certified.  She is a great asset to the wound care program here at the Stratford VNA.
